Our version is pretty spicy, but that's just what makes it taste so delicious! Turmeric produces a compound curcumin, which is well-known for its multitude of health benefits: its anti-inflammatory properties mean it helps to relieve joint pain and also helps to reduce delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS), so great after an evening workout! It is also great for the skin, good for digestion, increases memory function, and it boosts antioxidant levels and the immune system.
Ingredients (serves 2 mugs or 4 cups): 2 mugs almond milk 3/4 teaspoons of turmeric 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger 2 teaspoons raw honey grated black pepper a dash of cayenne pepper tiny pinch of Himalayan sea salt (optional) 3/4 teaspoons of virgin coconut oil
Directions: Pour the almond milk into a saucepan and gently heat. Add the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, sea salt, cayenne pepper and honey and stir gently, making sure the milk does not stick to the pan. Once at the desired heat pour into a blender, add the coconut oil and whizz for a minute. Pour into cups and sprinkle with a dusting of raw cacao powder.
